IDAK Human Resource Consulting and Services
Our specialty is helping companies and their key employees effectively adjust to organizational changes. We offer a full range of targeted services designed to assist you during the beginning, middle, or end stages of the change process.
During the beginning and middle stages, our unique approach to corporate restructuring and resolving job performance issues helps avoid impulsive decisions which waste human potential, destroy morale, risk litigation, needlessly increase employee turn-over, and create unresolved stress and anxiety at all levels of your organization.
With our pre-planning services, your managers and key employees can, and will, contribute constructively to resolving job performance issues-even when the optimal solution is repositioning.
If you are nearing the end of the change process, you may have already decided which of your employees require outplacement. Our individual and group outplacement services are designed to achieve results that are satisfactory for both your organization and the out placed individual.
The fundamental IDAK PRINCIPLE underlying all our consulting services is: “It’s not a solution for anyone unless it’s a solution for everyone.”
The IDAK Method
When the IDAK PRINCIPLE to facilitating change is explained to traditional managers, many agree that it’s a noble ideal but reply, “I see no way the company and the employees can both come out winners under our restructuring plan.”
They’re right. It’s impossible to apply the IDAK PRINCIPLE with maximum effectiveness without IDAK’s specialized assessment tools. Chief among these tools are the unique IDAK Career Match and IDAK Autobiographical Interview methods for assessing an employee’s natural talents, aptitudes and career potential.
Very few firms in our service industry, including the largest, offer assessment services that are comparable to the IDAK approach in scope, thoroughness or effectiveness.
Applying Natural Talent assessment to human resource management
IDAK systems focus on assessing the individual’s natural talents. In many cases, we have learned that job performance problems arise because the job is ill-suited to the individual’s natural talents. IDAK’s research proves that, when individuals are matched to careers best-suited to their natural talents -whether during pre-termination planning, internal repositioning, or outplacement their productivity increases. Stress is reduced. And, they become more satisfied in their work and personal relationships.
IDAK has developed services which apply natural talent assessment to managing such tasks as:
• Corporate reorganization
• Outplacement
• Employee performance intervention
IDAK’s natural talent assessment systems can also assist in recruitment, leadership fast-tracking, training, preparing job descriptions, defining job functions, specifying corporate goals, succession planning and other areas of personnel management.
When individuals move into careers matched to their natural talents, whether inside or outside their current employing organization, everyone involved benefits. Productivity is optimized. Job performance problems are resolved. And the improved recruitment and career-pathing helps prevent such problems from recurring in the future.
This human resource management based on natural talent is highly adaptable to the beginning, middle, or end stages of the change process. Natural talent assessment is the essence of all our services. It’s the unique IDAK identity.
IDAK Outplacement Services and Solutions
Outplacement is different from Mid-Career Advancement in that outplacement is usually purchased by an employer as a benefit for a displaced manager or employee.
IDAK provides a unique Career Advancement approach to outplacement which empowers each candidate with the opportunity to move beyond their present job stereotype. This significant advantage is at no extra cost.
IDAK’s Career Advancement Advantage is of particular importance for industries, government agencies and business firms where there are limited opportunities to find employment in a candidate’s present field.
IDAK’s Career Advancement Advantage is applied in each phase of our individual outplacement services. (For group outplacement, move ahead to the last paragraph in this outplacement information.)
- First, we begin with an in-depth assessment of each candidate. This goes far beyond a psychological analysis of personality traits. Our assessment taps into the soul of each candidate to reveal what specific career options fit each person the best. Through our IDAK trained counselors, your personnel receive the advantage of the best career options from 60,000 possibilities. The career options recommended will be both inside as well as outside your candidate’s present field. This is one of the most in-depth and exhaustive career evaluation systems your outplacement dollar can buy.
- Second, we offer multiple service options from which your candidate can choose. Once we have provided a career assessment, your candidate selects the career course which fits his/her goals. Those individuals who are well established and have enjoyed career growth will most likely choose to remain in their present career. These individuals immediately begin their job search campaign and résumé distribution.
However, those who are not satisfied with their current occupation now have an advantage! They can choose to pursue a new career direction. This new direction normally will enable your candidate to make an across-the-board transition to a different career at a comparable level to their former position. That may sound incredible. Yet, because of our unique assessment, career matching, and job search training process, your employee (our client) has that once-in-a-lifetime advantage.
IDAK’s Career Advancement Advantage is not common to most outplacement firms because of three basic reasons. Without the use of our career advancement technology, other companies have added time, expense and expertise. Our unique IDAK Career Advancement System empowers our consultants, and thus your employees, to be more focused, to be more confident, and to get hired faster than services provided through traditional outplacement programs. - Third, the final pay-off for your employee is the job search. Most of our clients do not waste their time mailing resumes, contacting head hunters, and answering help wanted ads. That busy work may feel good, but it doesn’t get a person hired quickly. The best positions are not advertised; many are filled before they become vacancies. Our clients are coached in finding these positions: the hidden jobs. All of our clients are given the advantage of becoming skilled in contacting employers directly by telephone and exploring future opportunities. Our average success is one scheduled appointment for every three calls. Our candidates are expected to maintain a minimum of at least one interview per day. The IDAK advantage helps them get hired into positions that “fit.”
Outplacement Fees
Our fees begin at $275 per person for a self-help service and progress to a maximum of $7,350 for unlimited executive service.
For outplacement services beginning at $1,875, our consultation sessions with your candidate are individual and private. Each person is expected to meet with his/her counselor for at least one hour every week for the duration of our service contract. We do not substitute group or seminar meetings for our quality one-on-one sessions. These weekly private coaching sessions are a significant advantage.
We believe IDAK’s Career Advancement Advantage is significantly a “best buy” for your outplacement dollar. For this high quality, our fees are surprisingly competitive. We welcome your consideration of our IDAK trained and certified consultants to assist you.
Questions typically asked:
1. How can you provide this significant advantage of quality service, individual appointments, and skilled consultants for such a reasonable price?
To maintain a competitive price without lowering quality, we have focused our services on training and coaching your employee rather than providing a private office, gourmet coffee, and unlimited clerical support. We have found that these “extras” do not contribute to getting your employee hired any faster, yet are expensive to provide. For companies who request them, these services are available. Since your employee will be so active in the job search, he/she will not have a need to be reading the Wall Street Journal and waiting for the phone to ring.
2. How do you help a candidate process grief, anger or fear because of a job loss?
This question comes up frequently; therefore, it is the very first issue we address with a candidate (and spouse, if married). At our very first meeting, we are usually able to gain the confidence and trust of our outplacement client. We give them hope for the future and we quickly deliver a very thorough quality assessment. A second technique we have found is to keep each candidate actively accomplishing measured weekly goals. This allows little time for negative emotions to dominate their transition. We believe constructive work is a good antidote for fear and depression.
3. What about the candidate’s spouse?
We strongly recommend that each candidate’s spouse attend the consultation session where we review our career assessment results and begin to map the direction for your employee’s future. We actively solicit the spouse’s input and provide a standing invitation to attend future coaching sessions. In cases where a candidate is selecting a high risk career change, we strongly encourage the spouse to meet with us to review the risks and advantages.
4. What is the difference between your lowest and highest fee for service?
Our lowest “budget” priced service provides for each candidate a complete career advancement and job transition coaching service in a self-help program through audio instructional cassettes and notebook. These are attractively bound in a cassette album. Our lowest priced individual counseling service is three weeks. We literally “cram” three months of instruction into three weeks. Our longer term service provides more individual assistance and coaching throughout the entire job search. We discuss each employment contact your employee makes and provide guidance on how to schedule return visits. Our longer term service usually results in your employee getting hired faster at a higher quality position.
5. What is the biggest problem companies face when a cutback is necessary?
Deciding who to let go is the toughest decision. Many times those “cut” are people who have demonstrated loyalty and hard work. These people have children and spouses. They have feelings. It is far better to empower these individuals with a tool enabling them to move ahead than to give the bad news that they must be terminated. Our career advancement option gives hope that the future can be better than the present. Most of our clients have told us that they are better off after we have helped them than they were in their past positions. This advantage of moving up instead of out provides a significant morale boost to all concerned.
Individual outplacement services can be tailored to any location in the United States.
Group Outplacement
For group outplacement, we provide the same Career Advancement Advantage.
Group outplacement can be arranged in half-day (two sessions), one, two or three day sessions.
Group outplacement begins with the very basic curriculum résumé preparation, job interview skills and networking training. The curriculum can be upgraded to a more advanced career re-direction training. All group outplacement is arranged to fit your company’s needs, schedule and budget.
